Make a Difference this Christmas!

What a feast! Our children started jumping and their eyes got big when they saw the pot of simmering goat stomach. Goat stew, chicken, chapatis, mashed potatoes, goat liver, cabbage & sakuma wiki was on the menu. Sakuma Wiki means to “push the week”, make ends meet when you have very little.

Pineapple and mango slices finished the meal along with Fanta sodas. This was our Christmas feast the past two years in  Tharaka, quite a contrast to the typical daily meal of beans and maize.

In Tharaka families return to the bush from the city and coast to get together with other family members. Maybe they can even get in a circumcision party or two. There are very few lights at all, (it helps to have electricity) and few decorations. Tharakans attend  church on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Other than church and family there are very few similarities.

When you are extremely poor there is no gift giving, not even goats.

At EOFO we love to give gifts to our sweet sponsored children. During our annual Christmas Celebration we give simple gifts, bless them, love on them, and remind them that God had a great plan for their lives and that they are not forgotten.

We encourage our children to never let anyone tell them that they cannot become someone great. They leave full, a little less afraid, and with more hope that God has a wonderful plan for their lives.

Won’t you help us celebrate Christmas in Tharaka by sponsoring a gift for a child? For $25 you can give a goody bag full of school supplies to a child in need. Give now.

Want to do more? A gift of $480 will sponsor a child for a year. Give now. For $1,000 you can sponsor one of the two Christmas feasts .we provide for our sponsored children and staff. Give now. Together we can make a difference this Christmas in the lives of our kids!

Your contribution is crucial, and time is running out! We need your help to give these children a gift they’ll never lose, return, or forget: hope!

Senator Kyle and Victoria McCarter

Then he also said to him who invited him, “When you give a dinner, do not ask your friends, your brothers, your relatives, nor your rich neighbors, lest they also invite you back, and you be repaid.  But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the lame, the maimed, the blind.  And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”  Luke 14:12
